Policy Internship, 100%, una europa, Brussels

We are offering one full-time (38 hours per week) six-month student internship in Policy in Autumn 2024 (September 2024 – February 2025), based at the Una Europa headquarters in Brussels, during our normal business hours (Monday – Friday, 9:00 – 17:00).

The timing of this internship will allow the successful applicant to experience Brussels at a particularly interesting time in the European Union policy cycle with the new political leadership of the European Commission and Members of the European Parliament taking office, following the European elections in June 2024.

Tasks

  • Support the monitoring of relevant European higher education and research & innovation policies, building personal expertise on specific topics.
  • Contribute to providing broad external policy expertise and producing briefings for Una Europa leadership and other alliance stakeholders.
  • Reinforce collaboration with other European Universities alliances on topics of common interest.
  • Attend relevant events, conferences and other external engagements with European higher education and research stakeholders.
  • Support on matters related to external funding opportunities.
  • Undertake specific tasks on behalf of Una Europa vzw, as required.

Profile and skills

  • A student at the master or PhD level – currently registered at one of the eleven Una Europa universities, or a recent graduate from one of the eleven Una Europa universities
  • Excellent spoken and written language proficiency in English; other Una Europa languages an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal and intercultural skills
  • Ability to work independently and to show initiative
  • Proactive, team working spirit and positive attitude
  • A solid understanding of the European Institutions and the European policy cycle is considered an asset.

What we offer

An opportunity for international work experience under the framework of a Belgian Professional Internship Agreement. Successful candidates are paid through a BIS contract, and may also be eligible for ECTS credits and an Erasmus+ mobility grant (candidates are invited to make inquiries regarding their eligibility for an Erasmus+ mobility grant with the appropriate office of their local universities).
