Job description

The Department of Political Science and International Relations is offering a doctoral student position in political science, within the framework of the project “Opinion stability and change in direct democratic campaigns in comparative perspective” led by Prof. Pascal Sciarini and funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation.

The purpose of the project is to analyze the process of opinion formation and opinion change during direct democratic campaigns in three different contexts: California, France and Switzerland. The research design includes a panel survey (three waves) in each of the three contexts, together with the collection of data on the political campaign preceding a direct democratic vote (political ads in print and electronic media, campaign events, etc.). How voters process the information delivered during referendum and initiatives, and how information processing differs across contexts, will be at the core of the research project. They will also give rise to a survey experiment
