applications for a Teaching & Research Assistant Position in the research group of Thomas
Widmer, who holds a professorship in Political Science with focus on Evaluation.
The Department of Political Science offers excellent research support in a vibrant research
community and is committed to advancing young scholars’ careers.

Your responsibilities

  • Development and conduct your own PhD project in the area of research of the professorship.
  • Participation in the Political Science doctoral program, which offers advanced methodological
    and substantive training.
  • Contribution to teaching in the political science programs on the BA- and MA-levels.

Your profile

  • A MA/MSc in political science (or in a related discipline)
  • Strong interest in the fields of public policy, evaluation and/or Swiss politics
  • Solid training in social science methods (preferably qualitative and quantitative)
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team and to be flexible and adaptable
  • Strong command of German and English; knowledge of French and/or Italian is an asset.

  • Conditional on approval of the PhD proposal by the end of the first year funding is
    guaranteed for four years total.
  • Salary is according to cantonal guidelines and approximately 57’300 CHF per year (gross
    salary, 0.6 FTE).
