As of June 2019, the Department of Political and Social Sciences (SPS) at the European University Institute (EUI) will organize a yearly SPS-EUI Summer Academy for talented master students from all over the EU. The initiative is part of the Strategic Review process that is currently taking place at the EUI. The intention is to generate more interest about the EUI in general and about the SPS doctoral program in particular, which we have been running for already four decades.
This year the SPS Summer Academy will be organized around the theme of (In-)equality, the welfare state and European solidarity and will take place from the 24th to the 28th of June 2019 in Florence. The faculty of the Summer Academy includes Fabrizio Bernardi, Juho Härkönen, Anton Hemerijck, Ellen Immergut and Andrea Sangiovanni. The week will be divided into five-morning lectures held by the SPS professors, one afternoon visit of the city of Florence, three-afternoon workshops held by postdoctoral fellows, and one external keynote lecture.
